Welcome to My Blog

Hey there! I'm Jake, an undergraduate systems programmer at the University of San Francisco, specializing in Rust, memory safety, and secure infrastructure.

What You'll Find Here

This blog is where I document my work on:

  • Systems Programming: Building high-performance tools in Rust, working with POSIX APIs, and understanding how operating systems work under the hood
  • Open Source: Contributing to projects like uutils/coreutils — the cross-platform Rust rewrite of GNU coreutils
  • Security Engineering: Vulnerability analysis, TOCTOU race conditions, cryptographic tooling, and application security
  • Project Deep Dives: Technical breakdowns of the security tools I'm building

My Philosophy

I believe in learning by building real things at the systems level. Every project is an opportunity to understand how software works at its lowest layer — from file descriptors and system calls to memory safety and concurrency. This blog is part of that process: writing forces me to understand concepts deeply enough to explain them.
